Beginning

As part of a new excercise regimen (brought on by a bad knee), and the availability of much more free time (brought on by the economic downturn in my field - architecture), I am spending a lot more time walking.  This has led to more observation of the cityscape, and along with that, much more opinion formation.  The purpose of this blog is to share those opinions, and hopefully begin a forum on the evolving streetscape and what it may mean to those who partake in it.

I am an architect.  I have been working for over thirty years - often intensely, but less so lately, and this is allowing me more time to observe and reflect.

Yes, this has been inspired by the movie "Julie and Julia" somewhat, but also by the lack of just day-to-day commentary on architecture and development that has an impact on city life.

Topics will range from critiques of specific projects to reviews and comments on books and other publications on architecture, planning and design.

This is the first blog for me, so I will be learning how to do it at the same time.

Thanks.
